One of the topics I chose to argue about is how dress codes are too strict and unfair. Seen as I am a student and have had to follow a dress code for my entire school career, it would be easy for me to integrate personal experience into my argument. I also have seen lots of unjust things occur due to dress codes, and I feel very passionately about making sure those types of things do not happen anymore.
My other topic is about how tax dollars should go to animal shelters. I have always had a soft spot for animals and seeing that they need help hurts my heart, so it would be super easy for me to argue about them needing help. There are also lots of people out there who want to help animals and who publish articles that I could use to help emphasize my point.

!. Langston's main claim is that rhetoric is a very powerful tool that people use in everyday life. It serves many purposes, the largest of which being that people twist and turn their words to get what they want. People use emotions, logic, and credibility to tactfully script their words and get what they want.

Two other rhetorical strategies shown in the video were demonstrative (referring to something happening at the present time) and deliberative (referring to the future and how one might change it) rhetoric. 10. I can use rhetoric to get what I want by using informed and educated language to make myself seem dependable and like someone worth spending time and energy on. |
